63-year-old Floyd struggled with his high blood pressure and cholesterol for several years, going to the local park and walking, thinking it would help him get healthier. It wasn’t working.

Six years ago, he joined the YMCA Active Older Adults program with hopes of getting healthier. Since joining the Y, his blood pressure and cholesterol have improved and he’s lost 75 pounds. He feels more energetic, flexible and happier.

The best part though is the Y is not just a place where he works out, it’s a place where he sees his Y Family. Floyd is one of our openers 5 days a week. He is the first member to walk through the doors, helping open the blinds. And once he completes his morning workout, he sits in the cafe area with his morning coffee greeting and talking with everyone that comes in.
