BRINGING AWARENESS TO WATER SAFETY & DROWNING PREVENTION

The YMCA of South Florida continues to make water safety and drowning prevention a priority. Every day, we partner with organizations and members of the community to get the word out about the need for all kids to know how to swim. Take a look at some of the ways we are getting the word out and making a huge impact.

Mommy Blogger Water Safety Event

The YMCA invited Mommy Bloggers who are social media influencers from across South Florida to participate in a Water Safety event at the Weston YMCA in September. The Moms, Dads and their children were able to learn about the YMCA and its drowning prevention initiative, and experience a safe water play day at the Y with water safety talks and swim instruction. They then shared their experiences with more than 45,000 of their followers.

Back-to-School Water Safety Event

In partnership with the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the Weston  YMCA held its very first Back-to-School Water Safety event for the Weston community and YMCA members in August. The Y provided families with water safety tips and information, Y-gear, complimentary swim evaluations, Water Watcher tags, live CPR demonstration, safety information, and swag bags from BSO. There were tons of other activities taking place as well. We had over 100 families on our pool deck and gave out more than 200 Water Watcher tags.
