SWIMMING IS A YEAR-ROUND ACTIVITY AT YMCA OF SOUTH FLORIDA
Water Safety Education and Drowning Prevention remains a top priority at the Y, as well as, in our communities. Just because we aren’t in the same room doesn’t mean we can’t be here for each other, together.
Florida leads the nation in drownings of children under4 years of age 88% of youth drowning incidents occur under adult supervision 64% of African American, 45% of Hispanic/Latino, and 40% of Caucasian children have little to no swimming ability. Annually, the YMCA of South Florida hosts the SWIM FOR JENNY week, offering over 3,000 registrants with five days of FREE swim lessons teaching water safety skills to children, teens and adults in our communities.
