Healthy Kids Day 2019
We came, we saw – we had a blast at Healthy Kids Day 2019, celebrating the kickoff of kids summer camp in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and the Florida Keys. This past Saturday, we brought South Florida and YMCA families together for fun activities, healthy snacks, and summer camp preview demos that had everyone smiling and moving – and looking forward to a fun-filled, healthy summer too.
On top of that, we offered demonstrations on water safety and drowning prevention, a hot-button topic in our towns and cities, where families spend a lot of time near or in the water.
And with another Healthy Kids Day in the books, that means we’ve officially kicked off summer camp for the kids! (Okay, parents don’t seem to mind it either).
Kids Summer Camp
There’s a lot to look forward to this summer at the YMCA of South Florida as it relates to summer camp. Across our locations, we offer a multitude of sports, for starters – basketball, flag football, gymnastics, martial arts, soccer, tee ball, volleyball and swimming. But swimming has opportunities unique to it, as well, from water safety and education, swim lessons for all levels (even little swimmers), and there’s a recreational swim team, as well as a pre-swim team too. We even offer water fitness classes for our big kids (looking at you, adults).
Of course, it’s not all about sports. For the kids who want something a little different out of their camp experience, there’s mini-master chefs, leadership camps, adventure courses, reading, writing and arts and crafts. We can’t wait to see you and your children at a summer camp this year. And if you missed Healthy Kids Day this year, fear not – we’re already gearing up for another memorable one in 2020. See you soon!
