SUMMER CAMP STAFF GET TRAINED & READY

On June 1, the YMCA of South Florida prepared more than 1,000 summer camp staff for a great summer camp season! The 2019 Summer Camp Training Day was held at McArthur High School in Hollywood, where we have amazing partners who helped make the day a success.

In addition to a kickoff rally and closing rally with Y-Fit and skits, staff also attended three sessions:

  • Own Safety – Safety and Risk Management led by Jackie Roca and the Risk Management Team
  • Own the Experience – Connecting and Engaging with Parents and Kids presented by Dr. Major Gregory Salters of the Broward Sherriff’s Department who trained as a John Maxwell Motivational Speaker with many years of interacting with Children and Adults through his work in law enforcement
  • Own Your Success – Living the Y Cause presented by Steve Morris, Y-USA representative and Director of Development for Overnight Camps in San Diego, CA

Summer Camp programs at the Y kicked off on June 3 at Upper Keys Y and June 10 in Broward and Miami-Dade locations.
