Swimming Lessons And Summer Fun

Summer is upon us, and that means swimming lessons for kids and water safety are of the utmost importance in South Florida. The YMCA of South Florida has deep roots in swim safety, dating back to 1909, when the very first YMCA swim lesson was taught in Detroit.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons can be fun for adults and kids alike, particularly during the steamy summer months. But swimming lessons for kids, in particular, are serious business in South Florida, where our cities hold the unfortunate distinction of leading the nation in child drownings. But there’s good news – many drowning deaths can be prevented, and to that end, summer aquatics and swimming lessons at the Y are the best investment you can make for your family as a South Florida resident.

All of our instructors and lifeguards are trained and certified in required areas, so you can have the peace of mind that comes with knowing your children are in good hands. And once your kids are able to swim safely on their own after completing swimming lessons, it opens a whole new world of fun and excitement in the water!

In fact, the YMCA of South Florida offers far more than just swimming lessons for kids – there’s mobile aquatics, recreational swim team, pre-swim team and YSF Barracudas Team, which includes a USA Swimming membership. Water fitness classes for everyone up to seniors are even offered where you can tone and sculpt your body with minimal impact to your joints.

Of course, not everyone wants to dive right into sports and races once they’ve learned to swim. Sometimes, it’s nice to just sit back and relax with a good book while the kids splash and play in the water, all while taking a break from the heavy heat of a South Florida summer. And you can do that at your local Y too.
